Residence by Investment in the USA

America is among the most desirable countries for immigrants and investment firms globally. The immigration process in the USA is complicated. In each case, a case study is necessary to determine the immigration path with the best chances.

There are fascinating permanent resident options for investors that allow for migrants to the country. You may be permitted permanent resident status (a “green card”) within a short time frame under the US EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program.

Regional Center Program

Individuals who apply through the Regional Center Program are assured a certain number of visas. The United States has several designated “regional centers,” each with a distinct industry and regional focus. Applicants typically invest USD 800,000 in one of the assigned regional center projects, becoming a limited partner in that regional center’s new project.

The key benefit of this option is that investors can rely on indirect job creation rather than directly hiring 10 employees. Furthermore, the regional centers make day-to-day investment management more accessible, allowing the applicant to live and work in any part of the United States.

Age, language, or past business experience is optional to qualify. However, applicants must have over USD 1 million net worth and prove that their funds come from legal sources.

TEG Consultancy can advise and assist international clients with selecting the most suitable regional center and handling applications.

Citizenship

The ability to get US citizenship and a passport, granting the holder the protection of the most influential nation on earth, is achievable after five years of lawful residence starting from the date of acceptance of the conditional green card. There are four ways to acquire USA citizenship: by birth in the USA or USA territories (jus soli), delivery outside the USA to USA parents, naturalization, and through the US E2 visa program.

US E2 Visa

In addition to the US EB-5 program, another option available for foreign investors is the US E2 visa program. The E2 visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows individuals from treaty countries to enter the United States for the purpose of investing a substantial amount of capital in a US business. This program is ideal for individuals who want to develop or manage a business in the US but do not seek permanent resident status.

Unlike the US EB-5 program, the E2 visa does not require a specific investment threshold. However, the investment must be substantial and sufficient to ensure the successful operation of the business. The investment amount varies depending on the nature of the business and the industry.

The E2 visa is typically granted for an initial period of up to five years, with the possibility of extensions as long as the investment and the business continue to meet the visa requirements. Spouses of E2 visa holders are eligible for employment authorization in the United States.

It is important to note that the E2 visa is only available to nationals of countries that have a qualifying treaty of commerce and navigation with the United States. The list of eligible countries is subject to change, so it is advisable to consult with immigration professionals or the US Department of State for the most up-to-date information.

By considering both the US EB-5 program and the E2 visa program, investors have different pathways to choose from when seeking residence in the United States. Each program has its own requirements and benefits, providing options that cater to the diverse needs and circumstances of potential investors.
