Cyprus has a modern, free-market, service-based economy; where in conjunction with its practical and transparent regulatory and legal framework, it offers international investors and businesses the confidence to invest and prosper. Cyprus ranked 54 out of 190 countries on the World Bank of Ease of Doing Business Index 2020. Several new measures have been implemented to reboot the economy in the wake of the massive and challenging restructuring of the country’s banking sector. These actions aim, among other things, to motivate the economy.

The Ministry of Interior has simplified Regulation 6(2) of the Aliens and Immigration Regulations to issue residence permits to non-European applicants who intend to invest in the republic. Applicants from non-European countries are eligible for residence permits if they meet the requirements set forth by the law.
